Shane Tucker, a paleontologist with the University of Nebraska State Museum, removes sediment from a 6-million to 8-million-year-old giant land tortoise shell fossil during the Jan. 17 Sunday with a Scientist event at Morrill Hall. Tucker, who works for the museum’s Highway Salvage Paleontology program, found the 2,500 pound fossil in September. The next Sunday with a Scientist at the museum is 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Feb. 21 with Stephen Ducharme, professor of physics and astronomy, discussing the tiny world of nanotechnology.
