“Journals of the Days,” an exhibition that explores the artistic process of landscape painter Keith Jacobshagen, opens at Sheldon Museum of Art Oct. 7 and will be on view through Nov. 30.

Organized by the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum in celebration of its 30th anniversary, the exhibition is composed of 20 reproduced images from Jacobshagen’s journals. These pages include drawings, paintings and written entries about the landscape and his work. The exhibitions journal images are supplemented with paintings by the artist from private collections.

Jacobshagen will discuss his work and the exhibition at a Sheldon Sunday presentation on Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. Both the exhibition and presentation are free and open to the public.

A native of Wichita, Kan., Jacobshagen was a faculty member in Art and Art History at UNL from 1968 to his retirement earlier this year. Jacobshagen’s work has been shown in galleries and museums throughout the United States. He has had 63 one-person exhibitions, including shows in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco.

“Journals of the Days” and the artist talk at Sheldon are supported by Kiechel Fine Art.
