No Mind in Things, 1989, aluminum pitcher, wood table and concrete, is a feature of "The Art of David Ireland: The Way Things Are" exhibition now at the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery.

Ireland is a West Coast artist working in conceptual and installation art and is concerned with expanding the definition of art: how it is made, what it looks like and what it means.

"The Art of David Ireland: The Way Things Are" is the first major exhibition surveying Ireland's work. The exhibition features about 80 works created between 1972 and 2002.

The exhibition is curated by Karen Tsujimoto, curator of the Oakland Museum of California Art. After opening at Oakland, it has traveled to the Addison Gallery of American Art in Andover, Mass., the Sheldon Art Gallery and the Santa Barbara (Calif.) Museum of Art.
