Stanislavsky Opera to present Tosca

The Stanislavsky Opera Company of Moscow will present the classic opera Tosca at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Lied Center. Tosca, composed by Giacomo Puccini, is a psychological drama of jealousy, deceit and betrayal telling the story of Cavaradossi, his lover, Tosca, and his friend, Angelotti.

The Stanislavsky Opera Company was established in 1918 as an opera studio of the Bolshoi Opera. The company has performed many works of Russian composers such as Prokofiev and Shostakovich as well as classics by Puccini, Verdi, Bizet and Strauss. The company has toured much of Europe, Asia and debuted in the United States.

A lecture will be offered at 7 p.m. in the Lied's Steinhart Room.

Tickets for this performance are $46/$40/$36; tickets are half-price for UNL students and those 18 and under. Call the Lied ticket office at 472-4747 for tickets.
