Cashore Marionettes first Lied offering on East Campus

The Lied Center has expanded its programming to include the UNL East Campus for the first time, staging in the Great Plains Room of the Nebraska East Union as part of the Lied Center's 2004/2005 season.

On Jan. 24 and Jan. 26, the Cashore Marionettes will return to Lincoln.

The Cashore Marionettes, created and brought to life by Joseph Cashore, are engineering marvels whose range of movement will amaze audiences. The program, Simple Gifts, is a series of touching scenes from everyday life set to music by such composers as Vivaldi, Strauss, Beethoven, and Copland. From humorous to tragic, the performance spans the range of emotions with convincing characters and actions. Due to the content, pace, scene length, and powerful emotions, this show is recommended for adults and children age eight and older.

Cashore has received numerous awards for this artistry including a 1996 Pew Fellowship for Performance Arts, a Henson Foundation Grant, and a Citation of Excellence from the UNIMA-USA, the highest honor an American puppeteer can receive.

Tickets are $12; half-price for UNL students with a valid I.D. and youth age 18 and younger. Call the Lied ticket office at (402) 472-4747 or (800) 432-3231 for ticket availability. Regular ticket office hours are 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays. For performances in the Nebraska East Union, Lied Center ticket office personnel will be at the venue one hour before the performance. To order tickets online or for more information on any Lied Center performances, visit the Lied Center's web page at www.liedcenter.org.
