ETV begins new era

More than 50 years ago, a single television station flickered to life in the basement of the Temple Building on the University of Nebraska campus and connected Nebraska's citizens with each other and the world. Half a century later, in November 2004, NET (Nebraska Educational Telecommunications) celebrated five decades of public broadcasting and an award-winning statewide network.

At the start of 2005, NET opened a new era, introducing a new logo that unites the services of the organization under one consistent identity. NET still serves as the name for the umbrella organization, with a collection of four core services: NET Television, NET Radio, NET Learning Services and NET Technology Services.

Nebraskans can still count on NET to provide national and locally produced public television programming on each of its four channels - NET1, NET2, NET3 and NET-HD. NET Radio offers local and national news, music, arts and culture, as well as popular programs such as "Car Talk." And, a visit to the NET Web site puts a wide range of interactive and educational resources at your fingertips. Log on to netNebraska.org for access to all NET offers.

With the advent of digital technology, more programming is being broadcast in high-definition television (HDTV), providing high-quality, wide-screen images with CD-quality sound. HDTV programs from PBS and locally produced specials and sports programs are available to viewers on NET-HD.
