NET Television hosts swing event

NET Television is hosting a big band/swing dance, 7 p.m. March 3 at Sokol Hall in Omaha.

NET Television will videotape dancers at the event and incorporate the footage into a new production called "Hard Times Swing." The documentary is about big band and swing music and how it became a part of Nebraska's musical history. The documentary includes interviews with Darryl White and Tom Larson of the UNL School of Music.

The dance will be hosted by swing aficionado and NET Radio personality Don Gill. The 7:30 p.m. concert by the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra and special guests is preceded by free swing dance lessons courtesy of the Omaha Jitterbugs at 7 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, go online to www.netNebraska.org or call 800-634-6788.
