Paul Haar, a local musician and UNL educator, will offer the performance as part of the Lied Center's "Free at 6" series.

Haar has contributed his talent to numerous projects in both jazz and classical genres. As a soloist, he has commissioned and performed works by Jack Cooper, Jessie Krebs, Leslie Hogan, Ben Boone, and Randal Snyder. He has also been a featured artist with wind ensembles from UNL, University of Texas at Austin, University of Tennessee, and the University of South Carolina.

In addition to his solo performances he has performed with such ensembles as the Tanglewood Music Center Fellowship Orchestra, Arapahoe Philharmonic, Austin Symphony, Asheville Symphony, and the Omaha Symphony.

A native of Fremont, Haar received a Bachelors and Masters of music from the University of Kansas. He received a doctorate in saxophone performance with an emphasis in jazz studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Haar has taught at the University of Kansas, University of Texas at Austin, University of Tennessee, and is currently assistant professor of saxophone and jazz studies at UNL.

Free at 6 was created to recognize and celebrate the rich range of artistic talent in the community and to open the doors of the Lied Center to a wider audience. Free at 6 programs, 45 minutes in length, gives local artists a venue to build support for their art while encouraging the participation of new audiences.
