Brass quintet offers Free at 6 performance

UNL BRASS QUINTET - The UNL Brass Quintet will perform a Free at 6 concert, 6 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. Faculty members in the quartet are (from left) Scott Anderson, Alan Mattingly, K. Craig Bircher, Darryl White and Craig Fuller.

 
The quintet is organized by Scott Anderson, associate professor of trombone and head of the brass and percussion area. Other members include: Alan Mattingly, assistant professor of horn; K. Craig Bircher, lecturer of music and artist-in-residence at UNL; Darryl White, associate professor of trumpet; and Craig Fuller, senior lecturer of music.

The UNL Brass Quintet is dedicated to the performance of original repertoire works for brass quintet. The group has had a touring presence in Nebraska and the Midwest.

The quintet has presented concerts in Lincoln; Omaha; Denver, Colo.; Fort Collins, Colo.; Iowa City, Iowa; and Ames, Iowa.

The quintet's fall program includes "Western Fanfare" by Eric Ewazen, "Quintet for Brass Instruments" by Alvin Etler, "Suite Francais" by Eugene Bozza and "Four Outings for Brass" by Andre Previn.

The Free at 6 concert is free and open to the public.
