Jay Rich, indigo dyer and fiber artist, will demonstrate indigo dyeing at 1 p.m. Jan. 31 in the Lentz Center for Asian Culture, in the lower level of the Hewit Place building at 1155 Q St.
Richs demonstration will provide an opportunity to observe the indigo vat dyeing process, which is commonly used to create an American staple: blue jeans.
The lecture and demonstration are sponsored by the International Quilt Study Center and the Lentz Center for Asian Culture, with special funding provided by the Nebraska Humanities Council. The events are presented in conjunction with the exhibition Indigo Gives America the Blues, now open at the Lentz Center.
