Third thesis exhibition opens April 19

The MFA Thesis Exhibition III will be presented April 19-28 at the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. The exhibition will include the work of Ian Anderson, ceramics; Kate Bingaman, design; Roxanne Jackson, ceramics; and David Bogus, ceramics. An opening reception will be from 6-8 p.m. April 23.

Anderson’s MFA Thesis Exhibition is titled “M3: Monument, Message, Materialism” and explores culture and politics through functional and sculptural ceramic objects. Anderson works primarily in clay, but also uses steel and magnets to display many of the objects that he makes.

Jackson’s MFA Thesis Exhibition is titled “In Between” and focuses on extreme characteristics as a way to understand the dualities of human nature.

Bingaman’s MFA Thesis Exhibition is titled “Obsessive Consumption: The Death of Market Research.” Bingaman is an MFA student in graphic design, but her thesis exhibition is an installation piece with photos, designs, T-shirts and other items. “Obsessive Consumption” started with the purchase of a green couch for her studio. Bingaman bought the couch, took a picture of it, kept the receipt and decided to do this for everything that she would buy through graduate school.

Information on Bogus’ exhibition was not available.

Gallery hours for the MFA Thesis Exhibitions will be noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
