Artwork in air/mass appears to be hanging in air Air/mass: An Installation by Anne Lindberg opened Nov. 30 at the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery. The elements of the installation are suspended from the gallery's walls and ceilings, which create a three-dimensional experience. A flock of migrating birds was the inspiration for air/mass, an installation created specifically for the Sheldon. The project also references Lindberg's drawings and installations that evoke the movement of prairie grasses or cloud forms. Lindberg, a native of Kansas City, graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree from Miami University and a master of fine arts from Cranbrook Academy of Art. She taught at the Kansas City Art Institute from 1993 through 1998. Her work has been featured in many one-person and group exhibitions, including "Awakenings" at the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art and "Drawing the Thread" in San Antonio. Air/mass: An Installation by Anne Lindberg will run through March 6, 2005. The Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays, and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission to the Sheldon is free.
