Scarlet begins new semester with new look

The Scarlet has opened the fall semester with a new look designed for UNL faculty and staff.

Coming into line with the UNL designers' Toolbox, the Scarlet now utilizes the two fonts that represent UNL's typographic identity. They are Minion (main body copy) and URW Grotesk (headlines).

To feature different parts of the UNL campus, the Scarlet masthead will begin rotating images, like the columns featured this week.

Readers will also notice some content changes as news briefs have been reduced from throughout the paper to one section (pages 4-5).

Coverage in the middle spread of the paper (4-5 in this edition) has also been converted to arts and entertainment, including a new home for the weekly calendar. In previous editions, the calendar has been listed by event type. To make it easier to select an event, the calendar now lists happenings by date and time.

If you have questions or comments on the redesign, contact Troy Fedderson, editor of the Scarlet, at 472-8515 or tfedderson2@unl.edu.
