Husker Football

Legendary Cornhusker football coach Bob Devaney (center) and his coaching staff pose outside the old Field House at Memorial Stadium in this circa-1964 photo. The other coaches are (from left) George Kelley, Cletus Fischer, Carl Selmer, Jim Ross, Mike Corgan and John Milton. In a throwback to the Devaney era, the UNL Athletics Department has installed new Memorial Stadium turf in an alternating color scheme. With the completion of an ongoing $50 million construction project in fall 2006, the Athletics department will further honor the Devaney era by switching the Huskers' lockerroom and field entrance to North Stadium. During the Devaney years, the Husker lockers were housed in the Field House, pictured above. The Field House was removed to allow for the current rehabilitation project.
