Edward Forde, Art and Art History, and Joan Gieseck, University Libraries, received $22,500 to build a digital image archive, one of 22 projects supported by ITLE funds.

That goal came into focus with a $427,000 grant from the University of Nebraska Foundation, forming the Initiative for Teaching and Learning Excellence (ITLE).

Last fall, an internal competition was announced to submit proposals for the ITLE funds aimed at helping faculty and administrators support the teaching enterprise in innovative and effective ways.

A total of 100 proposals were submitted, with 22 receiving grants between $5,000 to $61,440.

Accepted proposals ranged from aiding individual class instructors to improving facilities for entire programs.

"The Initiative for Teaching and Learning Excellence will help faculty and staff create the best undergraduate experience for our students through engaged teaching that focuses on learning," said Barbara Couture, senior vice chancellor for academic affairs.

Perlman has procured addition funding for the ITLE program to continue this year.
