Concerto honors Lewis and Clark

A chance meeting between UNL pianist Paul Barnes and composer Philip Glass resulted in the creation of a piano concerto inspired by the Lewis and Clark expedition bicentennial.

The concerto debuted at the Lied Center for Performing Arts on Sept. 18, 2004.

Barnes also brought over 100 members of the American Liszt Society to UNL for the group's annual festival in April.

The group meets to study, discuss and savor the music of composer Franz Liszt.
