Hahn was born in Lexington, Va., and at the age of 3 began playing the violin in a local children's program in Baltimore. During these early years, Hahn studied with Karla Berkovich, who taught for 25 years at the Leningrad School for the Musically Gifted.

In 1990 at age 10, Hahn was admitted to Philadelphia's Curtis Institute of Music and worked closely with Jascha Brodsky.

Hahn made her major orchestra debut with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and by 1993 she had performed with the Cleveland Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. In 1995, Hahn was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant.

A pre-performance talk will be held in the Lied's Steinhart Room 30 minutes prior to curtain. Seating is limited in the Steinhart, and the pre-talk will begin at 7 p.m. or when the Steinhart room is full. John Richmond, director of the UNL School of Music, will be the speaker.
