Brickman brings friends to help celebrate the holiday with music

Jim Brickman and a few of the pianist/composer's friends, will perform a concert of holiday tunes, 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.

Joining Brickman for this performance will be vocalists Mike Eldred and Lila McCann and violin soloist Tracy Silverman.

Brickman has been successful in a wide range of musical genres, from adult contemporary to country to Christian. Brickman, best known for his original songs like the chart-topping hits "Valentine," "The Gift," and "Peace," has established an international reputation for his collaborations with many of the entertainment industry's most gifted musical artists.

For his newest album, Brickman joins forces with the legendary Walt Disney Studios to bring a new sound to the classic Disney musical library with "Jim Brickman: The Disney Songbook."

Brickman has released 10 albums since his solo recording debut "No Words" in 1994.

His 10-year career has been filled with awards and success. Brickman earned a 2003 Grammy nomination for the holiday CD "Peace," a Canadian Country Music Award for Best Vocal/Instrumental Collaboration, and a Dove Award by the Gospel Music Association for his holiday album "The Gift." Over his career, Brickman has also earned four gold records and one platinum record.

Brickman has performed with Martina McBride for "Valentine," with Collin Raye and Susan Ashton for "The Gift," with Rebecca Lynn Howard for "Simple Things," and with Kristy Starling for "Sending You A Little Christmas."

As part of the Lied Center's ongoing education programming, a pre-performance talk will be held in the Lied's Steinhart Room 30 minutes prior to curtain.

Seating is limited in the Steinhart, and the pre-talk will begin at 7 p.m. or when the Steinhart room is full.

Tickets for this performance are $34/$30/$26. UNL students with a valid NCard., as well as youth age 18 and younger, may purchase tickets for half price. Call the Lied ticket office at 472-4747 for ticket availability.
