Love Hall

Don L. Love (left) and Chancellor E.A. Burnett take part in the 1940 cornerstone dedication for Love Memorial Hall.

Once referred to as the "East Campus sorority," Love Memorial Hall was built in 1940 with money donated by Burnett, a former Lincoln mayor, in memory of his wife, Julia Love. It was Julia Love's idea to to build a hall for women that was affordable, safe and designed to teach them skills needed for life.

Love is a cooperative living hall. Residents perform daily duties, cleaning the hall and cooking meals on a rotating basis.
