Lied to present Rumi concert April 11

The poetic verse of Rumi, a 13th-century mystic, will come to life in poetry, dance and music as "Rumi Concert: Where Everything is Music," plays 7:30 p.m. April 11 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.

The cast includes Coleman Barks, a poet and translator of Rumi; Eugene Friesen, cellist and composer; Glen Velez, world percussionist; and Zuleikha, a story dancer who animates the Rumi's poetry.

Ruth Davidson Hahn, a professional dancer/choreographer, will lead a pre-performance talk, 7 p.m. in the Lied's Steinhart Room. Seating is limited for the talk, which is part of the Lied's ongoing education programming.

Zuleikha's visit will also include a brown bag conversation, "Feeling Comfortable in Your Body," noon to 1 p.m. April 10. The talk is part of the Lied's "Women: Point of View" series. Attendees are welcome to bring lunch for the talk, which is free and open to the public. Seating is limited; make reservations by calling 472-3245 by April 7.

Tickets for "Where Everything is Music," are $34. UNL students with a valid NCard and youth 18 or younger may purchase tickets for half price. For more information, call 472-4747.
