Experimental films featured

A special screening from the International Experimental Cinema Exposition opens at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.

The screening includes a collection of 35mm and 16 mm highlights from the past six years of International Experimental Cinema exhibitions and films from the upcoming 2006 festival. Christopher May, director of the experimental cinema exposition, will attend.

Experimental films in the Ross screening include: "Blocking" by Pablo Martin; "Den of Tigers" by Jonathan Schwartz; "Market Street" by Tomonari Nishikawa; "Transaension" by Dan Baker; "Welcoming? Chall-enging?" by J.T. Rogstad; "Elsewhere" by Luke Sieczek; "Frauenmuskel" by Frank Biesendorfer; and "The Influence of Ocular Light Perception on Metabolism in Man and in Animal" by Thomas Draschan and Stella Friedrichs.

The screening will also feature several other films, including a classic and rare Stan Brakhage piece among other works from leading experimental filmmakers.
