Director, film historian offers Nov. 3 lecture at Lied Center

Renowned screenwriter/director/film historian Peter Bogdanovich will lecture at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.

Originally an actor in the 1950s (studying with Stella Adler), Bogdanovich gravitated to writing, working both as a screenwriter and also producing articles for such magazines as Esquire. Screenwriting led to Bogdanovich directing several of his own scripts, including the critically acclaimed film "The Last Picture Show." His other directorial efforts include, among others, "What's Up Doc," "Mask," and "Paper Moon."

Bogdanovich's lecture, "Sacred Monsters," is based on his books, "Who the Devil Made It" and "Who the Hell's In It."

A pre-lecture talk by L. Kent Wolgamott, arts and entertainment reporter for the Lincoln Journal Star, will be offered at 7 p.m. in the Lied Center's Steinhart Room. Seating is limited.

Bogdanovich's films have earned him eight Academy Award nominations.

Tickets for this lecture are $45. UNL students with a valid NCard and youth 18 and younger may purchase tickets for half price.
