Day of the Dead celebration is Nov. 1

The Office of Academic Support and Intercultural Services will present the fifth annual Day of the Dead at 6 p.m. Nov. 1 in the Nebraska Union Centennial Room.

In many Latin American nations, Nov. 1 is celebrated as a day to recognize and honor family and friends who have died.

The UNL celebration will feature an explanation of the altars, a dance performance by Lincoln's folkloric dance group, Sangre Azteca, the fusion of slam poetry and Andean music by Echopoetico, and the play "Señora Tortuga" performed by the Lincoln High School theater department.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Bill Waters at 472-7721.
