Sheldon 'Winter Escape' is Dec. 7-8

The Nebraska Art Association will present two free events during Winter Escape weekend Dec. 7-8 at the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery.

During the December First Friday reception, 5-7 p.m. Dec. 7, the University Chamber Singers, directed by Therees Hibbard of the UNL School of Music, will fill the Great Hall with their beautiful voices. Last year a crowd of 500 visitors enjoyed the group's moving performance. Juggler Renee Cosby will also perform throughout the evening amid whimsical decorations.

On Dec. 8, the String Beans, a trio that delights children with their zany tunes, returns for a winter concert in the Sheldon auditorium beginning at 1 p.m. Then at 2 p.m. the Suzuki Strings will fill the Great Hall with joyful music.

At both events, visitors will enjoy refreshments provided by the NAA, Sheldon's dedicated support group.

The museum is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, go online to www.sheldon.unl.edu or call 472-2461.
