Before the Husker volleyball squad competed nationally, this UNL team earned the NWISC State Volleyball Championship, held Dec. 11-12, 1970 at Midland College.

The tournament was double elimination with 11 teams participating.

Members of the UNL squad included (front row, from left) Kathy Drewes, Kathy Crewdson, Dee Fentimen, (second row) Peg Tilgner (team captain), Pam Miller, Debbie Knerr, Jan Cheney, Karen Ostrander and coach Connie Ludwig.

Tilgner delivered 15 straight serves to win one game (15-0) during the tournament. She was the first server, so neither squad had a sideout.
