'Nicholas Boylston' painting focus of Feb. 24 Sheldon lecture

Aaron Holz, assistant professor of art at UNL, and Wendy Katz, an associate professor of art history, will speak Feb. 24 at Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery about John Singleton Copley's "Nicholas Boylston," one of the early masterpieces in American art.

The Sheldon Sunday talk, "It Will Cost You an Arm and a Leg," is at 2 p.m. in the Rohman Family Gallery, where the painting is on view.

The famous portrait, created in 1769 of a wealthy Boston merchant, is on loan until March from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Admission to the talk and the museum is free.
