Music hosts Winter Festival

The UNL School of Music will host the 17th annual Winter Festival for Winds and Percussion Jan. 23-25.

The three-day festival will involve 71 students from 34 high schools in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and South Dakota in work on large concert ensemble performances and chamber ensemble performances. Each festival participant will perform in a chamber ensemble coached by a School of Music faculty member. They will also perform in an honor band and a large festival symphony band including the UNL wind ensemble.

Each festival candidate was required to submit an audition tape that was judged by the School of Music wind and percussion faculty.

Highlights of the festival include a chamber ensemble recital at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 24 and the finale concert at 3 p.m. Jan. 25, both in Kimball Recital Hall.
