Theatre Arts member performs in cabaret

Buttons and Bows, an original cabaret, pays tribute to women in work, life, love and play in honor of Women's History Month, featuring the work of Tammy Meneghini and Jim Koudelka. The show will be presented at 7:30 p.m. March 18 and 19, and 4 p.m. March 20 at the Lincoln YMCA, 1432 N Street.

Made possible by the Lincoln YWCA and the Angels Theatre Company, this is the second collaboration between Meneghini and Koudelka.

Last October the duo was asked to perform at an event hosted by the YWCA in honor of the Women's Suffrage Movement. They performed several selections that were chosen to fit the mood and theme of the event. It was then that Meneghini and Koudelka began putting together the much larger piece that would eventually become Buttons and Bows. The show features songs about all kinds of women as well as some new and exciting arrangements by Koudelka. The cabaret includes music by writers such as Carole King, Carly Simon, Lucy Simon, Harold Rome, Stephen Schwartz, Jason Robert Brown, Dar Williams, and Janis Joplin.

"There are songs about all kinds of women who we know, have known, or have read about over the years. There is at least one song for every woman and for every man who has loved and admired women. We can make that promise," Meneghini said.

General admission is $15; students and seniors, $10. Tickets are available at the door or by reserving online at www.angelscompany.org/buttonsandbows. For more information, call 474-2206.
