Chin Reading is April 6

Marilyn Chin will be reading as a part of UNL's Visiting Writers' Series 7 p.m. April 6 in the Great Plains Art Museum. The event is free and open to the public.

Chin was born in Hong Kong and raised in Portland, Ore. Her books have become Asian American classics and are taught in classrooms internationally.

In addition to writing poetry, Chin has translated poems by the modern Chinese poet Ai Qing and co-translated poems by the Japanese poet Gozo Yoshimasu.

Chin is writing a book of poetic tales. She also co-directs the MFA program at San Diego State University.

The reading is sponsored by the English department and the Creative Writing Program, Ethnic Studies, Women's Studies, Faculty Convocations and Research Council, Prairie Schooner and the Nebraska Summer Writers' Conference.
