Love Library participates in free comic day

University Libraries at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will participate in Free Comic Book Day, May 5-6.

Free Comic Book Day (officially May 6) is an international effort to promote comic books via free giveaways primarily at comic book shops. This is the fifth year of the promotion and marks the first time University Libraries has participated.

Richard Graham, an assistant professor and visual literacy specialist for University Libraries is organizing the UNL giveaway through Trade A Tape Comics (145 S. Ninth St).

Graham said UNL would offer 230 comic books, ranging from beginning to skilled reading levels.

Starting May 5, Graham will leave the free comics on a table outside his office, room N220 of Love Library and by the "Popular Culture" display on second floor of Love Library North.

Any remaining comics will be given away May 6 at Love Library.

UNL is offering the free comics a day early (May 5) because it is the final day of the spring semester.

For more information go online to www.unl.edu/libr/ or www.freecomicbookday.com.
