Updated 'Aida' to play Lied, April 20-21

The North American touring production of "Aida" by Elton John and Tim Rice opens a three-run performance April 20 at the Lied Center for Performing arts.

The musical chronicles a love triangle between Aida, a Nubian princess stolen from her country; Amneris, an Egyptian princess; and Radames, the soldier they both love. The production is based on the story from the classic Verdi opera, with John and Rice providing a pop score for a modern twist.

"Aida" will play the Lied at 7:30 p.m. April 20, and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. April 21.

Tickets are $48, $43 and $38. UNL students with a valid NCard and youth age 18 and younger may purchase tickets for half price. Also, faculty and staff may buy one ticket at regular price and get a second for half price.

Pre-performance talks will be held 30 minutes prior to curtain in the Lied Center's Steinhart Room. Seating is limited.
