Student documentary premieres

Students in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications will premiere a documentary and news magazine on Germany at 7 p.m., Sept. 6 at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.

The event opens with the documentary "Breaking Down Barriers." The student-produced documentary examines the challenges faced by immigrants - Turkish immigrants in Germany, and Hispanic immigrants in Nebraska.

After the film, a panel discussion will be guided by select stories from "Renovating the Republic," a student produced news magazine focused on issues modern Germany faces in a globalized world.

Both the documentary and news magazine are the result of a year-long study of Germany. The project is a part of the depth reporting course in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications.

The documentary and panel discussion will also be offered at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha.

Both events are free and open to the public.
