Free Campus Rec membership offered for October

 BY ANGIE FREDERICK, CAMPUS RECREATION

Campus Recreation is offering free trial memberships for the month of October.

The memberships are part of Winning with Wellness, an incentive program organized through Workwell, Lincoln and Lancaster County's Wellness Council of America program.

The program focuses on increasing physical activity, improving nutrition through increased consumption of fruits and vegetables, and smoking cessation. To help participants meet those goals, they can attend programs (including smoking cessation classes, and a nutrition presentation) and have free access to Campus Rec and Lincoln YMCA facilities.

After completion of the program, participants (ages 12 and up) will be entered into a drawing for prizes including an iPod, gift certificates to local restaurants and stores, and a $2,500 travel certificate. The grand prize for the kids program (ages 2 to 11) is a trip to Worlds of Fun.

The program will run the month of October. Participants must register by Sept. 21. The program is open to faculty, staff and their spouses, partners and children. Cost is $1 per person.

Registration is available at Campus Rec centers or department coordinators.

For more information, or to set up a department presentation, contact Angie Frederick, assistant director of fitness and wellness with Campus Rec, at afrederick2@unl.edu or 472-9480.

Information is also available online at http://crec.unl.edu/fitness/workwell.shtml.
