'Celebration of Youth' open to Oct. 27

BY SANDI ALSWAGER KARSTENS, IANR NEWS SERVICE

Textile and design art from 20 Nebraska 4-Hers is on display through Oct. 27 at the Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery. The exhibit is part of the 14th annual Celebration of Youth: Imagine.

The projects on display were selected by jurors from more than 2,400 Nebraska State Fair 4-H clothing and home environment project exhibits. The exhibits selected represent excellence in creative expressive, design, use of materials and uniqueness.

Youth and their families are invited to a day of activities on the closing day, Oct. 27. Youth will spend the day in workshops with the textiles, clothing and design faculty in the College of Education and Human Sciences. Parents will take part in educational activities. In the evening, the youth will present their creative work to the public at 5:30 p.m. in Room 11 of the Home Economics Building. A reception and final viewing will follow.

The exhibit and the Oct. 27 presentation are open to the public. The Hillestad gallery is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. The gallery is on the second floor of the Home Economics Building.
