Lied Center hosts March 15 performance of St. Matthew's Passion

The Lied Center for Performing Arts presents Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Edward Polochick, performing J.S. Bach's "St. Matthew's Passion" at 7:30 p.m. March 15.

Joining the orchestra for the performance will be the Nebraska Wesleyan and Lincoln Civic Choirs, under the direction of William Wyman; the University of Nebraska at Kearney Choraleers, under the direction of David Bauer; along with six soloists. J.S. Bach's masterpiece recounts the story of Christ's crucifixion by setting the Gospel of Matthew to music. This event is the Dorothy and Maurice Hevelone Memorial Concert.

A pre-performance talk will be given by William Stibor, music coordinator for NET Radio, at 7 p.m. in the Lied's Steinhart Room. Seating is limited.

Tickets for this performance are $45, $35, and $30. UNL students with a valid NCard, as well as youth age 18 and younger, may purchase tickets for half price. For more information, go to www.liedcenter.org or call 472-4747.
