‘Simpsons’ producer to speak Feb. 18 at Union

It won’t be exactly like having Bart Simpson on campus, but it might be the next best thing Feb. 18 when “The Simpsons” producer Mike Reiss speaks at UNL.

A four-time Emmy-winning producer, Reiss will speak at 7 p.m. in the ballroom of the Nebraska Union. Doors open at 6:30. The event is free and open to the public and students, although students are requested to bring a valid student ID.

Reiss’ presentation, “Simpsons Mania,” includes rare video clips from the show and little-known trivia about the writing, production and creation of “The Simpsons.” Reiss also comments on current television programming and entertainment.

A Harvard graduate who spent 11 years producing the hit animated show, Reiss has also worked on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson,” “Alf” and “The Critic.” Reiss also has contributed to Esquire magazine.

Reiss’ talk is sponsored by the University Program Council at UNL. For information, call 472-8153.
