Fiddlers John & Jason Shaw headline Free at 6 Jan. 19
John and Jason Shaw will present a free concert of old-time fiddle music, bluegrass, and jazz at 6 p.m. Jan. 19 in the Lied Center's Johnny Carson Theater. This event is part of the Lied Center's Free at 6 series.
Brothers John and Jason Shaw have each been performing since they were 4-years-old. While they both started on violin, they have also mastered the guitar, mandolin, drums, bass, and more recently, the banjo. Both have won many awards including the National Flat-pick Guitar Championship. They have performed with Mark O'Connor, Keith Urban, Bryan White, George Ducas, Gary Allan, Lonestar, and Ricochet. The brothers are also former members of the local country music group, High Caliber.
The remaining Free at 6 events for the 2004/05 season are:
Jim Rice and Final Round (original country music), Feb. 9, Main Stage;
The Bathtub Dogs (all-male contemporary a cappella), March 29, Main Stage.
Free at 6 recognizes and celebrates the rich range of artistic talent in the community. Its 45-minute programs give local artists a venue to build support for their art while encouraging the participation of new audiences at the Lied.
