Clarke book signing Oct. 20

Short story writer Brock Clarke will be reading from his new book, "Carrying the Torch," at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 in the Dudley Bailey Library, Room 229, Andrews Hall.

"Carrying the Torch" contains tales about what people try to leave and find they can't, about the lies we tell the people we love and the myths we create to make life livable.

Clarke is an assistant professor of English at the University of Cincinnati. He is the author of the novel "The Ordinary White Boy" and of "What We Won't Do," a collection that won the 2002 Mary McCarthy Prize for Short Fiction.

The reading, sponsored by the UNL English Department and Creative Writing Program, is free and open to the public. For additional information, contact Grace Bauer at 472-0993.
