Talk examines Morrison novel

UNL scholar Kalenda Eaton will discuss Toni Morrison's novel "Paradise" in the Plains Humanities Alliance's 2005-06 Research and Region colloquium series.

Eaton will present "The Absence of Color: Towards a Theoretical Understanding of the Black Neo-Plains Narrative," at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 30 in the Dudley Bailey Library (room 228, Andrews Hall).

The event is free and open to the public.

Eaton, assistant professor of English and Ethnic Studies, teaches courses on black women authors, late American literature and African American literature. In her talk she will look at the thematic elements of Morrison's "Paradise," and will consider how contemporary African American women novelists narrate the history and experiences of black plains settlers.

The colloquium series is an outlet for local and visiting scholars to present research about the Great Plains and other plains regions.
