Instead of painting offices in the Nebraska Union on Nov. 22, Gross spent the day spraying and scrubbing eight, red "SSS" logos from the sidewalks around the union.

"It takes me about an hour on each one of these," said Gross, a Painter II with the Nebraska Union. "This is senseless vandalism. I really hope they catch the people who did this."

According to Sergeant Kris Puckett with the UNL Police Department, more than 20 of the 12-inch tall "SSS" logos were painted on campus sidewalks between the evening of Nov. 21 and morning of Nov. 22.

Puckett said the "SSS" is believed to stand for either the "Secret Skull Society" or the "Senior Skull Society." The vandalism matches a second incident that occurred on City Campus in 2004.

Puckett said the latest round of vandalism remains under investigation.

Anyone with information related to the incident can contact UNLPD at 472-3555.
