Ross to host experimental cinema expo

The International Experimental Cinema Exposition is bringing two specialized programs to the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center for a one-day run.

The programs - created specifically for the Ross by TIE founder/director Christopher May - will show at 1:30 and 4 p.m., Sept. 16. May said the exhibition features an eclectic range of experimental films that illuminate the continuing vitality of celluloid. May will attend the exposition.

The first program, starting at 1:30 p.m., includes seven short films - "Pan of the Landscape," "Von Innen; von aussen," "Peng Peng," "The General Returns from One Place to Another," "Living," "Fourth Watch" and "Outer Space."

The second program, starting at 4 p.m., includes four films - "Fuses," "Blow Job," "Silk" and "Meat Packing House."

TIE, started in 2000 by May in Telluride, Colo., is designed to showcase avant-garde directors who specialize in experimental filmmaking. TIE has a duel mission to preserve the fundamental qualities of cinema and film exhibition. Since the festival's inception, TIE has screened over 600 innovative films.
