WWII programming complements Burns’ ‘The War' series

"Most Honorable Son" is included in a series of PBS programs complementing "The War," a series by Ken Burns, running Sept. 23-26, Sept. 30-Oct. 2. All "The War" broadcasts begin at 7 p.m. on NET1. NET Television-produced programming that will compliment "The War" includes:

• "Canteen Spirit," the story of the North Platte Canteen that welcomed more than 6 million soldiers on their way to serve in WWII; 9 p.m. Sept. 15 on NET1 and NET-HD

• "All Hell Can't Stop Us!" follow Nebraska's 134th Infantry regiment at Omaha Beach and beyond; 8:30 p.m., Sept. 20, NET1

• "The War Comes to Nebraska," a co-production with the University of Nebraska at Omaha on WWII contributions made by Nebraskans; 9 p.m., Sept. 22, NET1

• "A Matter of Conscience," a documentary about Midwestern conscientious objectors who met when assigned to work in a mental hospital in northwestern Iowa during WWII; 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., Sept. 26, NET2

• "POW: Atlanta Revisited," a former civilian employee and a guard discuss life in a WWII German prisoner-of-war camp located near Atlanta, Neb.; 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Sept. 28, NET2
