UNL singers, orchestra to perform at Carnegie Hall

UNL'S University Singers and Philharmonia Orchestra, along with Kate Butler, mezzo-soprano and assistant professor of voice, will be featured in concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Jan. 20.

The University Singers are conducted by Peter Eklund, associate professor and director of choral activities. The UNL Philharmonia, the University's Opera and Chamber Orchestra, is conducted by Tyler White, associate professor and director of orchestral activities. More than 100 students and faculty will be making the trip, including 60 in the University Singers and 40 in the UNL Philharmonia Orchestra.

The program includes the classical music of Johann Sebastian Bach, Johannes Brahms, Joseph Haydn and Emile Paladilhe, and traditional Hebrew folk music.

The University Singers and Symphony Orchestra will perform in Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 29 in Kimball Recital Hall. Tickets are $5 general and $3 for students and seniors and are available at the door.
