FREE AT 6 - Poet Dominique Garay (left) and musician Oscar Rios Pohireth will offer a Free at 6 performance at 6 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Lied Center.

Award-winning slam poet Dominique Garay and musician Oscar Rios Pohireth will present "echopoetico," at 6 p.m. Feb. 8 on the Lied Center's main stage. Joining echopoetico for the Lied performance will be Pablo Cervantes and John Baylor - both are members of the Andean folk music group Kusi Taki.

Fans of each others' work, Garay and Pohireth formed Echopoetico in 2006. In the performance, Pohireth's music complements Garay's words.

Pohireth is the founder and director of Kusi Taki and also plays a variety of South American instruments.

Garay has been a performance poet since 1999 and a slam poet since 2003. He is a National Poetry Slam Semi-Finalist and was named by Amnesty International as a "Poet of Conscience."

The 45-minute performance is free and open to the public. For more information, go to www.liedcenter.org.
