Firefly to replace ESS on April 14

UNL faculty and staff will soon have a new portal to access their personal information. What was the University of Nebraska's Employee Self Service system will become "Firefly" beginning April 14.

During the next five weeks, faculty and staff will be introduced to the new system via a series of presentations. New user names and passwords will be given at the presentations.

The new user name and password is the biggest change that employees will notice about the new system, along with a new Web address and different screen appearance.

ESS has been used to give university employees secure and direct access to things like W2s, banking, address, pay stubs, tuition remission, vacation and sick pay information.

The new access site on the Web is firefly.nebraska.edu. On April 14, the old site, ess.nebraska.edu, goes away. ESS user names and passwords will not work on the new site.

Every benefit-eligible employee will be given access to the new Firefly portal. Informational sessions will be held in the individual university departments through April.

Faculty and staff who do not receive a new user name and password at a Firefly session will receive them via mail at their home address.

Questions about the new Firefly portal or about scheduling a department informational session may be directed to Beth Benson, 472-2100.
