Signing, reception for Sheldon book Dec. 2

A public reception and book signing will celebrate the publication of "Sculpture from the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery," a new book presenting 90 selected works from the museum collection.

Published by the University of Nebraska Press, the 272-page book includes examinations of sculpture by Auguste Rodin, Alexander Calder, Marcel Duchamp, Constantin Brancusi, Henry Moore, Mark di Suvero, Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen.

Karen Janovy, Sheldon's education curator, edited the volume. Essays by the museum's current director, Janice Driesbach, and former director, Norman Geske, document the development of the collection. Sheldon curator Daniel Siedell is the volume's principal essayist.

The reception and book signing is 5-7 p.m., Dec. 2 at the Sheldon.
