Literary salon on organic farming book is April 20

The University of Nebraska Press will host a literary salon about Leslie Duram's book "Good Growing: Why Organic Farming Works" 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 20 at the Lincoln Woman's Club, 407 S. 14th St.

Jim Bender, Nebraska organic farmer and author of "Future Harvest: Pesticide-free Farming," and Chuck Hassebrook, University of Nebraska Regent and executive director of the Center for Rural Affairs, will lead participants in a discussion of the book and issues related to organic farming.

"Good Growing" explains how and why organic production and consumption have seen an annual increase of at least 20 percent in recent years.

The discussion is free and open to the public. Organic refreshments will be served, and books will be available for purchase.
