NET Television profiles NU's Willa Cather

The fascinating life of Willa Cather is featured in the NET Television profile, "Willa Cather - The Road is All," at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 16 on NET1.

NET Television produced the award-winning documentary for broadcast nationally on PBS. The Cather special was broadcast as part of "American Masters."

"Willa Cather - The Road Is All" weaves interviews, rare photographs and scenes from the novels of this acclaimed Nebraska author to tell a story of the transforming magic of art. As a child Cather was taken from her comfortable home in Virginia into the wild Nebraska frontier - a place so vast she felt "erased." Cather survived and even thrived on the plains, eventually pioneering her way east to New York City where she wrote her great novels: "O Pioneers!," "The Song of the Lark," "My Antonia," "Death Comes for the Archbishop" and the Pulitzer Prize-winning "One of Ours."

Scenes from Cather's life and work were filmed in a number of Nebraska locations, as well as in New York City, Santa Fe and Taos, N.M. "Willa Cather - The Road is All" was co-produced with Thirteen/WNET New York.
