'Day Room' closes Theatrix season
Theatrix, the student producing theatre organization of the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, closes out its season with Don Delillo's "The Day Room."

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. April 10-12, 10:30 p.m. April 11, and 2 p.m. April 13.
"The Day Room" is a postmodern look at the difference between appearance and reality set in a psychiatric ward.
Nothing is quite what it seems in "The Day Room," set in a hospital where the psychiatric wing fails to contain patients. The patients are regularly found in the "ordinary" ward where Wyatt (played by sophomore Logan Pietz) is awaiting tests, and his roommate Budge (sophomore Christian Stokes) yearns for good conversation.
Things start to become disturbing when the doctor, Bazelon (freshman Gary Henderson) and nurses Walker (sophomore Sarah Carlson) and Baker (senior Coutney Pearson) turn out to be pretend professionals. Gradually, the "real" world in "The Day Room" seems to be turning into a psychiatric ward itself.
In the second act, "The Day Room" journeys to a motel that might not actually be a motel, where actors who might not actually be actors are going to perform a play that might not actually be a play for madmen who might not actually be mad.
"The Day Room" is directed by first-time Theatrix director Jennifer Schenck, a senior with a directing/management emphasis.
