Landscape Services received the Continued Excellence in Recycling Award from WasteCap Nebraska.

The award goes to the business that has taken strides to continually improve their waste reduction and recycling program.

The UNL recycling program has grown from recycling 14.5 percent of UNL waste in 2003 to 25 percent in 2007. In the current year, the program has added new recycling labels on campus recycling containers and the UNL recycling truck. Landscape Services has also expanded plastic and aluminum recycling with the purchase of 35 recycling containers used for outdoor events. Also, working with UNL Housing, Landscape Services collected 28 tons of cardboard from students during UNL’s five-day move in period.
